Double-Coated Breeds
Here’s for all our furry babies out there, whether you have a little Pom, or a Samoyed, you need some special equipment to work on your pets! If we don’t brush these guys out regularly, their undercoat can get stuck and tight. Here are some products that you should have on hand for bonding with your double-coated breed through grooming!

Miracle Coat Slicker Brush
Best Brush Ever. This brush is very effective on all types of coats, and if you teach yourself how to line-brush and loosen up all your pet’s undercoat, you will experience the miracle too!
The Big G by Chris Christensen
Ooh la la, love this brush for thick double coats! It’s a lifesaver in pulling out dead undercoat like nothing else out there. Big thumbs up!
Zymox Enzymatic Shampoo and Leave-On Conditioner
I have been using Zymox products and recommending them to clients for many years (especially the Ear Solution), but I just started using the shampoo and conditioner this year, and I’m very impressed! Definitely a thumbs up for dogs with minor skin issues and itchiness.
Bio-Groom Hypo-Allergenic Cream Rinse
I have seen this cream rinse work wonderfully in the field, plus it’s super gentle. No odor or perfumes either. Definitely one of my favorite conditioners to use on my sensitive pups!
E-Z Groom Filthy Beast Shampoo
A wonderful shampoo for de-shedding your double-coated breeds! I also use this shampoo for super dirty dogs, my spitz breeds (like Pomeranians or Samoyeds), and matted dogs. No shampoo can break through thick matting, but this one definitely helps to loosen the coat and make brush-outs much easier!
Vetoquinol Universal Medicated Shampoo
A wonderful medicated shampoo that I’ve seen treat dandruff and other minor skin issues with wonderful effectiveness! I have also used other products from this company, and have been very impressed. If you need a good medicated shampoo, this one is definitely top-notch!
Refurbish Conditioner
Probably the strongest (read: effective at softening coat and loosening mats) conditioner I have used. Love the stuff, think you will too!
