Gunky Muzzle with Minnie the Doodle

Dogs get messy, and we (us groomers) are here to clean them! One of the common messes we see is a tangled up and matted muzzle full of gunk and dirt. First instincts are to shampoo and wash, but if we don't separate the strands of coat stuck in those clumps before washing, we are not going to be able to clean the muzzle properly. So what do we do?
